Two former Brown University football players, Alias Archie and Ty Pezza, will participate in National Football League rookie mini camps, according to an April 26 announcement from the university. Archie has been invited to join the Los Angeles Chargers’ camp, while Pezza will attend with the Baltimore Ravens.
The selection of both athletes highlights their achievements during their collegiate careers. Pezza, a Rhode Island native, was recognized as a Second Team All-Ivy League selection and earned Second Team Phil Steele All-Ivy honors as a senior in 2025. He led the Bears with 46 receptions for 599 yards and seven touchdowns. Additionally, he ranked fifth in the Ivy League for receiving yards per game at 59.9. Off the field, Pezza was acknowledged for his academic performance as an Academic All-Ivy selection and received honors such as CSC Academic All-District honoree and FCS ADA Academic All-Star.
Archie also earned Second Team All-Ivy League recognition along with Second Team Phil Steele All-Ivy honors. He led the Ivy League with 16 passes defended and had 14 pass breakups; his average of 1.60 passes defended per game was second among all Football Championship Subdivision players. Over the season, Archie recorded 33 tackles, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles. His standout performances included being named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week and NEFW Gold Helmet winner after Brown’s win over Rhode Island.
Since James Perry became head coach in 2020, eight Brown players have attended NFL rookie mini camps under his leadership. Notable names include Michael Hoecht—currently with the Buffalo Bills after winning a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams—as well as EJ Perry, Allen Smith, Mark Mahoney, Jake Willcox, and Graham Walker.
Looking ahead, participation in these mini camps offers both Archie and Pezza opportunities to showcase their skills at a professional level.
