Brown women’s water polo prepares for CWPA matches after strong showing at Santa Clara

Brown University’s women’s water polo team is set to compete in the first round of Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) play this weekend in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. The Bears, holding an 8-3 record, will face Michigan (7-6) on Saturday, February 21 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a matchup against Saint Francis (2-4) on Sunday, February 22 at 10:30 a.m.

Last weekend, Brown participated in the Santa Clara Invite in California and achieved three wins out of four games. In their game against Cal State Monterey Bay, which ended with a score of 13-9, Ava Schoening and Alexandra Love each scored three goals for Brown. Emmy Hensley and Aubrie Anderson contributed two goals apiece, while Somto Okafo recorded six saves.

During the match against Santa Clara that finished 18-7 in favor of Brown, Sofia Holman led the team with four goals. Madeleine Poissonnier, Hanna Homma, Aubrie Anderson, and Ella Palmer each added two goals. Six other players also scored one goal each.

In the game versus Pacific that concluded with a score of 16-7 for Brown, Sofia Holman again led with three goals. Madeliene Poissonnier, Emmy Hensley, Alexandra Love, and Audrey Long each netted two goals. Somto Okafo made six saves during this match as well.
