The Bryant baseball team completed a weekend sweep of Sacred Heart with a 14-11 victory in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader at Conaty Park, according to a March 21 announcement. Hudson Story and Mike Fiatarone combined to drive in seven runs for the Bulldogs.
The win marks Bryant’s seventh consecutive victory, improving their overall record to 13-8 and concluding their nine-game homestand with an 8-1 record. The Bulldogs are scheduled to face Rhode Island on Wednesday in Kingston.
Bryant took an early lead but fell behind before scoring nine straight runs to secure a 12-6 advantage. Fiatarone’s two-run single and Story’s two-run home run in the fourth inning put Bryant ahead for good. Story finished the game with three hits and four runs batted in, while Fiatarone contributed three RBIs, scored twice, and walked twice. Casey Wensley and Ellis Garcia each scored three times, with Wensley also stealing three bases.
Aidan Vining earned his third win of the season by allowing just one run over 3.2 innings of relief and striking out five batters. Tommy Flaherty recorded his first save after retiring the final seven batters he faced.
Bryant has now won its last eleven games against Sacred Heart and holds a 41-17 advantage in the all-time series. The team has also won four of its first six series this season and achieved thirteen wins in its first twenty-one games for only the third time since joining Division I (2014, 2016). At Conaty Park, Bryant is now 140-34 since the start of the 2017 season.
Looking ahead, Bryant will travel to Kingston on Wednesday to play against Rhode Island, with first pitch scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
