The Bryant baseball team defeated NJIT 5-2 on May 2 at Yogi Berra Stadium, scoring four runs in the final three innings to secure the win.

The victory brings Bryant’s record to 24-19 overall and 12-8 in America East play. The Bulldogs have now won each of their last five conference games. With this result, Bryant has clinched the series by winning the first two games against NJIT, with the third game scheduled for Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

During Saturday’s matchup, former Bulldog Mark Scamardella limited Bryant to one run over six innings before his old team rallied against the NJIT bullpen. Ty Davis and Sean Zaslaw combined on the mound for Bryant, allowing just four hits throughout the game. Davis is now tied for first in league wins with five, while Zaslaw recorded his second save of the season.

Key moments included Davis limiting NJIT to two runs in a bases-loaded situation during the fourth inning and Charlie Saul making a crucial defensive catch in the eighth. Offensively, Greger finished with three hits and two runs batted in while Kingsbury contributed two hits and scored a run. Hackett also collected three hits and stole two bases as part of Bryant’s six stolen bases during the game.

The Bulldogs are now qualified for the upcoming America East Baseball Championships after improving their road record and continuing a successful stretch within conference play. The team’s aggressive baserunning brought their season total to 130 stolen bases through 43 games, approaching an America East record of 145 steals.

Bryant will conclude its series against NJIT on Sunday.
