Bryant men’s golf team advances to match play against Little Rock

The Bryant men’s golf team finished the third round of the Ohio Valley Conference Championship on Apr. 28, moving up to fourth place and securing a spot in match play against top-seeded Little Rock.

Advancing to match play is significant for Bryant, as it gives the team an opportunity to compete for a championship title after improving their position during stroke play rounds.

Bryant recorded a total score of +33 after shooting +14 in Tuesday’s round. Dylan Gallagher led the Bulldogs with a round three score of +3, finishing tied for eighth overall at +5. Other contributors included Sam Fuentes (tied for 17th at +8), Matthew Downes (tied for 24th at +10), Matthew Young (tied for 32nd at +13), and Chad Correia (also tied for 32nd at +13).

The tournament took place at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Indiana, which measures 7,093 yards with a par of 71. The team leaderboard saw Little Rock leading with -28, followed by UT Martin (+17), Tennessee Tech (+24), and Bryant (+33). Western Illinois rounded out the top five teams with a score of +34.

Match play is scheduled to begin tomorrow morning at 8:00 AM, starting with Dylan Gallagher teeing off first. Tee times are staggered every eight minutes through Sam Fuentes’ start time at 8:32 AM.
