The Bryant University softball team earned a 9-5 win over Maine at Conaty Park on April 26, completing a series sweep and clinching the outright America East regular-season title. With this victory, the Bulldogs secured the number one seed for the upcoming America East Playoffs.

The outcome was decided in the bottom of the sixth inning when Bryant, trailing 5-3, scored six runs to take control of the game. The win marks an important achievement for Bryant as it is their first America East regular season title in Division I program history and second overall.

In the opening inning, Arriana Williams reached base on an error and eventually scored on a sacrifice bunt by Bryce Clendenin. Alana Garcia contributed with an RBI single in the second inning to extend Bryant’s lead. After Maine responded with five runs in the fifth to go ahead, Bryant rallied with key hits from Teagan Thompson, Jadyn Jenks, Jaiden McKenna, and Laniya Lewis during their decisive sixth-inning surge.

Lewis recorded two hits and two runs batted in while Clendenin, Garcia, Thompson, Jenks, and McKenna each added a hit and an RBI. Pitcher Maddy Wachter held Maine to one run over three innings of relief work. Brooke Tracy contributed four strikeouts.

According to team notes provided after the game, Bryant finished conference play with a record of 16-4 and improved their home record against conference opponents to 21-4 over three seasons. The Bulldogs have also achieved ten or more America East wins for three consecutive years.

Looking ahead, Bryant will travel to Stonehill for their next matchup on Wednesday.
