Bryant University athletes achieve school records and strong finishes across three track meets

The Bryant University track and field teams participated in three separate meets over the weekend, competing at the Harvard Crimson Open, BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational, and URI Coaches Invitational.

At the URI Coaches Invitational, Madison Guerrera set a new school record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.84 seconds, earning third place. “Guerrera earned third place in the competition with a time of 8.84 seconds.” First-year athlete Marie Kane led Bryant in the 200 meter dash and achieved personal bests in both the 60 meter (8.09 seconds) and 200 meter (26.46 seconds) events. Jalena Martin also recorded a personal best of 26.76 seconds in the 200 meter.

Other notable performances included Tishany De La Rosa placing fourth in the 400 meters, Emma Nadolski setting a personal record and finishing sixth in the 800 meters at 2:21.22, Norah Puleo achieving a personal best mile at 5:21.87, and Alexa Fisher recording a fifth-place finish with a personal best of 10:37.72 in the 3000 meters.

In relay events, Nadolski joined Mia Bettez, Adriana Spinelli, and Annabelle Lynch to secure second place in the women’s 4x800m relay with a time of 8:11.64.

Field event highlights included Sarina Sanders placing among the top three in both long jump and triple jump; Kedarjah Lewis also placed top three in long jump. Amanda Kalinowski set a personal high jump mark at 1.45 meters while Peyton Barron finished fifth with a pole vault mark of 3.51 meters.

Sophomore Panayiota Anastos set multiple personal records—13.16 meters for shot put (top three finish) and 14.84 meters for weight throw.

On the men’s side at URI, Kevin Brooks earned third place with a personal record of 50.63 seconds in the 400 meters; Aiden Masse finished fourth in the 3000 meters at 8:38.32, improving on his previous best from last year’s Bison Outdoor Classic; Toby Ruffo, Jack Moir, Danny Torres, and Bryson Fears took second place as part of their relay team.

Kyle Keyes placed fifth in the men’s 500 meter event while Alexander Campbell finished third in pole vault among freshmen competitors; Chance Decrescenzo achieved fifth place along with his own pole vault personal record (4.46 meters).

Jake Martino recorded new bests on both track (breaking nine seconds for an eighth-place finish in hurdles) and field (6th place long jump). Freshman Andrew Bertarelli finished fifth in long jump while Jalen Wise was fifth overall for triple jump.

At Friday’s Harvard Crimson Open meet, Jasmine Trott won her race by finishing first overall in the women’s 3000 meter event with consistent pacing throughout her run: “Trott held a consistent pace that got her to first place within the first 800 meters.” Ava Burl came seventh over one kilometer while Kelley MacElhiney was twelfth across eight hundred meters.

Lauren Haddad and Emma Guadagnoli posted new marks for themselves during their eleventh- and twelfth-place finishes respectively for five hundred meters—1:17.18 for Haddad and just under one-tenth slower for Guadagnoli.

During Saturday’s BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational meet, Ian Thomas and Aaron Barnwell each reached heights of 1.90 meters to earn top-three placements among high jumpers; Barnwell also made it into long jump’s top ten finishers.

Kalen Knott secured second position by clearing 4.90 meters during pole vault competition; Colby Nyhan placed within top five as well.

Josiah Johnson clocked twenty-two seconds flat to earn thirteenth position out of more than thirty-nine athletes racing two hundred meters—a new career-best—as did Kevin Brooks who ran 22.31 seconds himself; Johnson also improved his four-hundred-meter result to 49.79 seconds.

Lauren Haddad marked her second personal record over one weekend by coming fifth overall among women running four hundred meters (56.51 seconds), while Jordyn Collins finished eighth after setting her own two-hundred-meter mark at 25.10 seconds.

Chloe Whiting surpassed her previous mile result from last year’s America East Indoor Championship by more than five seconds this time around; MacElhiney broke five minutes with her run timed at 4:55.47.

Ella Goulas jumped into second spot among long-jump competitors thanks to another new career mark—5.87 metres—while Ashley Brule cleared 3.75 metres en route to third overall on women’s pole vault leaderboard.

Allyson Humphries rounded out notable results from Bryant participants with another top-five showing during women’s pole vault event.
