Bryant women’s lacrosse falls to Dartmouth after early deficit

The Bryant University women’s lacrosse team was defeated by Dartmouth, 19-6, in a Saturday afternoon match at Scully-Fahey Field in Hanover, New Hampshire. The loss moves Bryant to a 1-1 record for the season and extends their all-time series deficit against Dartmouth to 0-3.

Dartmouth started the game strongly with an 8-0 run, holding Bryant scoreless through the first quarter. Elise Larsen and Riley O’Mara each scored two goals for Bryant. Emma Wymes added her second goal of the season, while sophomore defender Eli Torbay scored her first career goal late in the fourth quarter.

Kaelynn O’Brien led Bryant defensively with five caused turnovers and five ground balls. Jessica Wilhelm recorded six ground balls and caused two turnovers. Harper McGineley contributed two caused turnovers and one ground ball.

Dartmouth outshot Bryant 26-18 overall and held a 23-14 edge in shots on goal. The Big Green committed 18 turnovers compared to Bryant’s 14. The Bulldogs were successful on all twelve clear attempts and finished with thirteen caused turnovers and eleven assists.

Larsen and O’Mara tied as leading scorers for Bryant with two goals each. Wymes and Torbay also found the net once apiece. O’Brien posted four or more caused turnovers for the second consecutive game, while Wilhelm collected a career-high six ground balls.

With this result, Bryant remains winless against Dartmouth both at home and away. The team has now begun its season with a 1-1 record for seven consecutive years.

Bryant will next play Harvard at home on Wednesday, February 18, with the match scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.
