The Bryant University women’s tennis team lost to the University of Rhode Island Rams by a score of 6-1 on Thursday afternoon, April 9, at the URI Tennis Complex in Kingston, Rhode Island.

This match outcome leaves Bryant with a season record of 12 wins and 7 losses, while URI improves to an 11-8 record. The result reflects a challenging day for the Bulldogs as they were only able to secure one victory in singles play.

Mila Martinez earned the sole win for Bryant at No. 5 singles, defeating Anastasia Pettersson from URI with sets of 6-0 and 6-3. In doubles competition, all three matches went in favor of URI pairs: Fernando/Helgesen beat Vela/Hernandez (6-1), Darcy/Pettersson won against Pino/Dugec (6-0), and Herrman/Grnja overcame Noy/Stypula (6-2).

In singles play beyond Martinez’s win, Grace Darcy defeated Yahli Noy (6-2, 6-3), Nikki Fernando beat Natalia Vela (7-5, 6-4), Sophie Herrman overcame Laura Stypula after a tiebreaker set (6-1, 4-6, [10–3]), Kajsa Helgesen bested Maria Jose Hernandez (6–3, 6–0), and Miruna Scarlat topped Nicole Isman (6–1, 6–0).

Looking ahead, Bryant will return home for a doubleheader on Sunday. The Bulldogs are scheduled to face New Haven at 11:00 AM followed by Providence for Senior Day at approximately 2:45 PM. Both matches will take place at the Bryant Tennis Courts in Smithfield.
