The Bryant women’s tennis team will compete against No. 2 seed Auburn in the first round of the NCAA tournament, according to an April 27 announcement from the university.
This matchup marks Bryant’s second consecutive appearance in the NCAA tournament and its tenth overall, with four at the Division I level under head coach Barbara Cilli. Last season, Bryant played Duke in the opening round and lost 4-0.
The Bulldogs come into this year’s tournament with a record of 17 wins and seven losses. They recently secured their second straight Ohio Valley Conference championship after defeating Tennessee State, Southeast Missouri State (SEMO), and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). The team has claimed conference titles in both seasons since joining as an affiliate member.
Auburn enters as Southeastern Conference champions, holding a record of 32-3 overall and going undefeated at home with a perfect 19-0 mark. The Tigers have won six consecutive matches leading up to the NCAA tournament.
Cilli continues to lead Bryant through another successful season as they prepare for their next challenge against one of college tennis’s top teams.
