Bryant University junior Casey Wensley has been named the America East Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office on Tuesday.
Wensley played a significant role in Bryant’s season-opening series win against Davidson. Over three games, he recorded seven hits in 11 at-bats, including a home run, five runs batted in, and five runs scored. His performance resulted in a 1.576 OPS for the weekend.
A native of Raynham, Massachusetts, Wensley started at first base in all three games and achieved multiple hits in two of them. In his debut for Bryant, he went 2-for-4 with one RBI during the opening game. He concluded the series by going 4-for-4 with a home run, four RBIs, and three runs scored. During the final game, he tied the score with a two-run home run in the second inning and later contributed RBI singles in both the sixth and seventh innings to help secure an 8-5 victory for Bryant.
Bryant is scheduled to play its next series this weekend against No. 19 Clemson, beginning Friday.
