Providence College men’s lacrosse players Jack Cooper and Rhett Chambers were named to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division I/II Team of the Week on April 21. The announcement follows Providence’s overtime victory against Denver, 8-7, which took place on April 18 in Providence, Rhode Island.

The recognition highlights both athletes’ performances during a key game that secured Providence a spot in the BIG EAST Men’s Lacrosse Championship with one regular-season match remaining.

Cooper won 12 out of 18 faceoffs for a .667 win percentage during the overtime win against Denver. He also matched his career-high by collecting five ground balls. As a sophomore, Cooper currently holds second place on the team with a .478 faceoff win percentage (55 wins out of 155 attempts).

Chambers led all players in the game with five points, scoring two goals and providing three assists. The junior leads Providence’s offense this season in total points (58), goals (29), and assists (29). Chambers had previously been named to NEILA’s team of the week on March 23.
