Senior forward Jamin Gogo Peters has signed his first professional contract with Rhode Island FC, a club competing in the USL Championship. Peters, who played for Brown University’s men’s soccer team, made 62 appearances and started 43 games during his collegiate career. He scored 12 goals and contributed three assists.
Friends of Brown Men’s Soccer Head Coaching Chair Chase Wileman expressed pride in Peters’ accomplishment. “Congratulations to Jamin and his family, we are all extremely proud of him!” Wileman said. “His signing continues the long tradition of Brown men’s soccer producing professional players, and he is joining a first class organization and coaching staff at Rhode Island FC.”
Wileman also acknowledged the university’s support for student-athletes: “I want to highlight all of the great work our Division of Athletics and Recreation is doing to provide staffing, resources, and a platform for our student-athletes to pursue their dreams of being a pro and earning an Ivy League degree.”
Peters received several honors during his time at Brown. He was named Second Team All-Ivy and earned a spot on College Soccer News’ All-Freshman Second Team. As a freshman, he led the team in scoring with seven goals and one assist. In subsequent seasons, he continued to contribute key performances including game-winning goals against Lehigh and Holy Cross.
Reflecting on his new opportunity, Peters said: “I want to thank Jesus first for this opportunity, and for always looking out for me because without him I wouldn’t be in this position and be who I am today. It’s truly a blessing.” He added: “I’m also extremely grateful for every player and staff member I’ve been with throughout my four years, I’ll never forget the experiences and support I’ve had from each and every one of them. I’m blessed to have been a part of Brown and the program.”
The Brown University Sports Foundation supports athletics through donations from alumni, parents, fans, and friends. These contributions help enhance the experience for student-athletes both academically and competitively.
