Bryant women’s lacrosse junior Kaelynn O’Brien was named the America East Defensive Player of the Week, according to an April 27 announcement.
This recognition marks the sixth time O’Brien has received this honor. The award comes after she recorded five caused turnovers, four ground balls, and two draw controls during Bryant’s 12-7 victory over Binghamton.
The team’s performance in that game contributed to their seeding in the upcoming America East Women’s Lacrosse Championship. Bryant secured the No. 3 seed and is set to play against No. 2 seed UAlbany on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. in Burlington, Vermont.
O’Brien’s consistent defensive contributions have been a key factor for Bryant throughout the season. Her ability to force turnovers and control possession has helped position her team for postseason competition.
Looking ahead, Bryant will aim to advance further in the championship as they face UAlbany in what is expected to be a competitive matchup.
