Senior Landon Lewis of the Brown men’s basketball team was named a Third Team Academic All-American by the College Sport Communicators, according to an announcement on Apr. 14.
The recognition highlights Lewis’s achievements both on and off the court. Being selected as an Academic All-American is considered one of the top honors for student-athletes who excel academically and athletically.
Lewis earned this honor after being named First Team All-Ivy, Academic All-Ivy, and to the CSC Academic All-District Team earlier in the season. The Los Angeles native led the Ivy League in scoring during conference play with 18.5 points per game and ranked second in rebounds per game (8.3) and field goal percentage (59.8). He was also named Ivy League Player of the Week on Feb. 16.
Throughout this season, Lewis scored in double figures in 19 out of his 21 appearances and led his team in points per game (16.2), rebounds per game (7.2), and minutes per game (30.7). He recorded four double-doubles as well as five games with at least 20 points scored.
As captain, Lewis had two separate games where he scored 30 points—once against Harvard on Jan. 30, where he shot a career-high twelve field goals out of sixteen attempts, and again at Dartmouth on Feb. 14 when he matched that number while grabbing a career-high fourteen rebounds. He became the first Brown player since Brandon Anderson to have two such performances in one season.
Lewis concluded his collegiate career with thirty-eight double-digit scoring efforts, five double-doubles, and nine games with twenty or more points scored before graduating in May with a degree in business economics.
