Providence, R.I. – A pair of Little East Conference (LEC) baseball teams are featured in the first Collegiate Baseball / American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) of the 2023 season – Eastern Connecticut State University and UMass Boston.
The Warriors, ranked No. 6 in the poll with 443 points, are off to a 13-3 start to the season, most recently sweeping its Little East Conference (LEC) doubleheader versus Plymouth State, taking game-one 14-0 in seven innings before posting an 8-0 victory in game-two. Eastern is scheduled to travel to Wheaton (Mass.) for a non-conference contest today before hosting a non-conference game against WPI Wednesday. Eastern will then close out the week with a LEC twin bill at Castleton Saturday.
The Beacons, who are among the teams receiving votes in the poll, are off to a 10-4 start to their season after sweeping a LEC twin bill versus Castleton Friday by scores of 5-1 and 3-2. UMass Boston is scheduled to take on Tufts (March 29) and Western New England (March 30) in non-conference play before heading to Western Connecticut for a LEC doubleheader Saturday.
