The Providence College softball team will host St. John’s University for a three-game BIG EAST series from April 10 to April 12 at Glay Field in Providence, Rhode Island. The opener is set for Friday, with games continuing on Saturday and Sunday, and all matchups will be streamed on FriarsLive.
This series brings together two teams with strong records in conference play. Providence enters the weekend at 16-14 overall and holds a program-best start of 7-1 in BIG EAST competition after winning 12 of its last 15 games. St. John’s arrives with a record of 26-13 overall and an even split of six wins and six losses within the conference.
Providence’s Cameron Dunn recently achieved her 100th career hit while tying the single-season program record for home runs at twelve. Teammates Sofia Peterson and Elisa Smith are also nearing the same milestone for career hits. Freshman Nikki Gallardo earned recognition on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after batting .833 over two non-conference games, while senior Emily Jonte was named BIG EAST Player of the Week earlier this season following her performance against DePaul.
Dunn leads Providence offensively with a .412 batting average, twelve home runs, thirty-eight RBI, and a .929 slugging percentage—her numbers place her among conference leaders in both home runs and slugging percentage. On the mound, Alyssa Twomey leads with a six-win record and an earned run average (ERA) of 3.58 across forty-five innings pitched; Tori Grifone has also been recognized by the league after pitching five shutout innings against Dayton.
For St. John’s, Jess Bianco heads up offensive production with a .410 average and twenty-five RBI; pitcher Ana Serafinko anchors their staff with fourteen wins, an ERA of 2.43—the best mark in the conference—and one hundred ninety-seven strikeouts over nearly one hundred forty innings pitched.
After this weekend’s series concludes, Providence is scheduled to face Brown University in a doubleheader on Wednesday.
