Providence College track teams post strong results at URI Coaches’ Invitational

The Providence College men’s and women’s track and field teams took part in the University of Rhode Island Coaches’ Invitational on February 14, 2025, in Kingston, Rhode Island. The meet saw several notable performances from both teams.

For the men’s team, junior Owen Comiskey from Sherborn, Massachusetts won the 500 meters with a personal best time of 1:05.20. Freshman Matt McCabe of Marshfield, Massachusetts secured first place in the 800 meters with a time of 1:56.14. Senior Kyle Bloomer finished second behind Comiskey in the 500 meters at 1:05.70.

In the mile event, freshman Jack Dowd placed second by just one-hundredth of a second with a time of 4:16.22. Other top finishers included junior Nicholas Cassarino in sixth (4:20.72), freshman Matt Denardis in eighth (4:22.00), and sophomore Adam Wedlake in tenth (4:22.92). Sophomore Tucker Anglemyer finished fourth in the 400 meters (50.83), followed by senior Nico Fanuele in fifth (52.16). Senior Grady Satterfield took third place in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:38.32.

In field events, junior Jon Mignacca cleared 1.94 meters to finish sixth in high jump, while senior Nik Ventura placed tenth in triple jump with a mark of 12.78 meters.

On the women’s side, senior Jill Fenerty led by finishing second in the 200 meters at 26.22 seconds. Four other Friars earned top-10 finishes: Margaret Kemper was third (26.24), Cate Parks sixth (26.80), Ella Chandaria eighth (27.65), and Ava Russell tenth (27.85).

Cate Parks also competed in the 60 meters where she set a personal best of 8.06 seconds during preliminaries and matched that result to finish seventh overall.

Senior Lexi Brent took third place for Providence women in the 800 meters with a time of 2:20.05.

The Friars had three athletes among the top six finishers in the women’s 1,000 meters: Kaelin McCaffrey was fourth (3:01.86), Emily DiSarno fifth (3:02.56), and Claire Brean sixth (3:02.84).
