The Providence College women’s tennis team lost to Southern New Hampshire University by a score of 4-3 in a dual match held Saturday, February 14 at TRI West Bay in Warwick, Rhode Island. With this result, the Friars’ overall record in dual matches for the season is now 2-3.
During the match, Providence secured three victories in singles play. Allison Root defeated Megan Leck (6-3, 6-2), Sophie Ahlberg overcame Nadya Lyekontseva (6-2, 6-2), and Gabriella Plonowski beat Eyglo Armannsdottir (6-0, 6-3). In doubles competition, Camila Barrera and Audrey Magnusen were victorious against Megan Leck and Nadya Lyekontseva (6-3).
Southern New Hampshire won two out of three doubles matches and took three singles matches to secure the overall win. Dajana Abadzic and Lois Tsui defeated Flora Eidson and Allison Root (6-4) in doubles, while Eyglo Armannsdottir and Lucia Dusseljee beat Sophie Ahlberg and Erika Beltran (6-3). In singles action for SNHU, Dajana Abadzic won over Camila Barrera (7-5, 6-4), Lois Tsui bested Flora Eidson (6-4, 6-3), and Lucia Dusseljee earned a win against Lauren Krise after three sets (4-6, 7-5, 6-0).
