8 percent of applicants to Brown University were admitted for fall 2018

At Brown University, 99 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 54 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private not-for-profit institution in Providence enrolled 10,257 students in fall 2018, including 7,043 in undergraduate and 3,214 in graduate programs, data shows. 0.9 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

4 percent of undergraduates are residents of Rhode Island, and 81 percent are residents of other states. 15 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (42 percent) and Asian (15 percent).

The school admitted 8 percent of the 35,437 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 61 percent enrolled.
