Cost of college went up for all students at Rhode Island School of Design

Tuition and fees rose 5.4 percent for 2018-19 at Rhode Island School of Design, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Rhode Island students paid $50,960 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year – $2,590 more than the $48,370 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 45 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 171 students received grants or scholarships totaling $4.8 million and 156 students took out student loans totaling more than $1.3 million.

Including all undergraduates (2,467), 761 students used grants or scholarships totaling $19.8 million, and 686 students took out $4.8 million in federal student loans.
