Graduates earn 697 degrees from Rhode Island School of Design

About 65.3 percent of the 697 degrees and certificates handed out by Rhode Island School of Design in 2017-18 were to students in visual and performing arts programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Providence conferred 370 bachelor's degrees and 85 master's degrees in visual and performing arts programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in illustration. Data shows the school gave out 80 bachelor's degrees in illustration, followed by 75 bachelor's degrees in industrial and product design and 68 master's degrees in architectural and building sciences/technology.

The school enrolled 2,467 students for 2017-18, including 1,994 in undergraduate programs and 473 in graduate programs.
