Graduates earn 1,700 degrees, certificates from Rhode Island College

About 21.6 percent of the 1,700 degrees and certificates handed out by Rhode Island College in 2017-18 were to students in health professions and related programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Providence conferred 309 bachelor's degrees and 35 master's degrees in health professions and related programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in registered nursing/registered nurse. Data shows the school gave out 160 bachelor's degrees in registered nursing/registered nurse, followed by 116 bachelor's degrees in general psychology and 91 bachelor's degrees in social work.

The college enrolled 7,766 students for 2017-18, including 6,684 in undergraduate programs and 1,082 in graduate programs.
