Little East Conference recently issued the following announcement.
Player of the Week
Andrew Bryant (Canton, Mass.) - Junior - Outfield - UMass Dartmouth
Bryant was named the LEC Player of the Week after batting .600 (9-for-15) and slugging 1.067 for the Corsairs in a 2-1 week that saw him total three extra-base hits, eight runs scored and four RBI. He was a combined 7-for-11 with one home run, one double, seven runs scored and three RBI as UMass Dartmouth swept a league twin bill against Keene State, which allowed UMass Dartmouth to jump up to the No. 5 Seed in this week’s LEC Championship Tournament.
Pitcher of the Week
Andrew Sears (West Warwick, R.I.) - Sophomore - Starting Pitcher - Rhode Island College
Sears was named the LEC Pitcher of the Week after he allowed just three hits and striking out nine in a complete game effort to earn his eight win (8-1) of the season, as the Anchormen bested Plymouth State, 6-0.
Rookie of the Week
Daniel Trzepacz (Mount Vernon, N.,H.) - Freshman - First Base - Rhode Island College
Trzepacz was named the LEC Rookie of the Week after batting .375 (6-for-16) with five runs scored and four driven in as the Anchormen went 4-0 to close out the regular season last week. He was 3-for-6 with a pair of runs scored in an 11-1 win over Western Connecticut, and went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in a 12-2 game-two win over Plymouth State. The freshman capped the week going 2-for-3 with a pair of walks and scored twice in an 8-3 non-conference win over Nichols top close out the week.
