Little East Conference recently issued the following announcement.
A total of 10 Little East Conference (LEC) student-athletes representing five conference programs have been named to the 2022 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region Team, it was announced by the coaches organization this week.
2022 LEC regular season and tournament champion Eastern Connecticut State University led the way with five selections, including First Team honorees Brooke Matyasovsky (first base), Alexis Michon (pitcher), Julia SanGiovanni (third base) and Cassie Woods (outfield). Alyssa Vilchez (second base) was a Third-Team pick.
Castleton’s Kate LaPan (shortstop), UMass Dartmouth’s Jill Richards (utility/pitcher) and Rhode Island College’s Avery Katz (outfield) were also named First Team All-Region. They brought the total number of First Team recipients from the LEC to seven, by far the most from any conference in the region.
Southern Maine had one Second Team All-Region selection in Belle Snyder (utility/pitcher). UMass Dartmouth had a second all-region recipient in Lindsay Chubbuck (pitcher), who landed on the Third Team.
All honorees move forward to be considered for selection for the three NFCA Division III All-America squads, which will be announced on May 24.
