11.9% of households in Cranston received food stamps in 2020

Cranston ranked 15th in Rhode Island for the percentage of households receiving food stamps in 2020, according to U.S. Census Bureau data.

There were 3,719 Cranston households (11.9 percent) who received food stamps. Cranston's population was 81,252 in 2020.

The city with the largest percentage of households receiving food stamps in the state was Foster Center, which had 48 of 116 households receiving food stamps, 29.5 percent more than Cranston. In 2020 the population of Foster Center was 291.

The city with the lowest percentage of households receiving food stamps in the state was Kingston, which had four of 537 households receiving food stamps, 11.2 percent less than Cranston. In 2020 the population of Kingston was 6,407.
