The Western Connecticut State University women’s soccer team is among those receiving votes in the 2022 United Soccer Coaches Preseason Coaches’ Poll, it was announced by the organization ahead of the new season.
The Wolves are coming off a 2021 campaign that saw them go 18-2-0 overall on their way to winning the Little East Conference (LEC) regular season and tournament championships. WestConn was undefeated (8-0-0) in conference play during the regular season before recording shutout victories over Southern Maine and UMass Boston to secure its league-record 12th LEC tournament title.
The Wolves embittered the 2021 NCAA tournament as the No. 23 ranked team in the country, which was its highest ranking of the season. They fell to Franklin & Marshall in the opening round by a final of 2-1.
WestConn will open the 2022 season when it hosts Western New England Thursday at 7 p.m.
