Patent office approves 2 patents for Providence innovators in week ending November 27

Patent 4

There were two patents granted in Providence in the week ending November 27, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

This is three less than the week before. Patents included a treatment of central nervous system conditions using sensory stimulus.

The earliest patent filed which was granted in the week ending November 27 belonged to Textron Innovations, Inc. who filed in March 29, 2020.

The number of approved patents in the U.S. grew steadily from roughly 225,000 in 2009 to more than 285,000 in 2019. The number of patents approved suffered a slight downturn in 2020.

Gene Quinn with IPWatchdog said the system underneath patents have become unwieldy, specifically for medical innovations.
