Women’s Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week: October 18, 2022

Swimmer of the Week

 

April Falstad (Arden, Del.) - Sophomore - University of New England

Falstad repeats as the LEC Swimmer of the Week after turning in the Nor’easters’ top solo showing at the Roger Williams Invitational, where UNE placed second among the seven competing teams. She placed third in the 100-freestyle (58.64) and was fifth in the 200-freestyle (2:12.55). She was also a member of the runner-up 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays.

 

Rookie Swimmer of the Week

 

Elli Donovan (Durham, N.C.) - Freshman - University of New England

Donovan repeated as the LEC Rookie Swimmer of the Week after she had a team-best three top-six individual finishes at the Roger Williams Invitational, where the Nor’easters placed second of seven teams. She was fourth in the 100-freestyle (1:00.83), sixth in the 200-freestyle (2:13.09) and fifth in the 50-freestyle (27.66). Donovan was also a member of the runner-up 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.

 

Diver of the Week / Rookie Diver of the Week

 

Cailey Simard (Haverhill, Mass.) - Freshman - Bridgewater State

Simard swept this week’s diving awards after she won both events in her collegiate debut as the Bears fell 191-120 in their season-opening dual meet to Division II Saint Michael's College. Simard posted a score of 230.25 points on the one-meter board and 217.05 points on the three-meter board.
