The Little East Conference (LEC) Announced its 2023 Women’s Swimming & Diving major award winners, which was determined by a vote of the LEC’s head coaches.

Bridgewater State University freshman Cailey Simard was named the Diver of the Year and Rookie Diver of the Year after sweeping the diving events at the LEC Championships, setting conference championship records and qualifying for the NCAA Division III Championships in both events. She won the 3-meter with a score of 433.55 after posting a total of 440.40 in the prelims, and went on to win the 1-meter with a tally of 436.70 points.

Keene State College senior Jaelin Jang was voted the LEC Swimmer of the Year after going undefeated in her three individual events and helped the Owls claim victory in three of the four relays of which she was a member. Jang won gold in the 100 butterfly (59.92), 200 butterfly (2:17.92) and 200 freestyle (1:59.97)

Jang swam the third leg of the winning 400 medley relay (4:09.80) and anchored the LEC champion 200 freestyle (1.41.12) and 800 freestyle (8:21.35) relays. The 200 freestyle relay set a new LEC meet record.

Western New England University freshman Amanda Robinson was named the Rookie Swimmer of the Year. She was victorious in the 200 IM (2:20.90), placed third in the 400 IM (5:08.23) and placed fourth in the 100 IM (1:06.43) in her first-ever collegiate conference championship meet.

Bridgewater State head coach Mike Caruso was named the LEC Coach of the Year for the first after guiding the Bears to a second-place finish in the final team standings. He is the first coach in conference history to be named the Men’s Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year and Women’s Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year in the same season.
