325 coaches at institutions in Providence County earned $135,825 on average in 2022

Providence County’s 325 coaches earned an average salary of $135,825 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the second highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Rhode Island post-secondary schools during 2022.

Providence County is home to five post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Providence College stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $400,728.

Male coaches of men's teams received $222,986 on average in Providence County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $76,077.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
