The median income of Washington County residents was an inflation-adjusted $33,351 per year. Washington County had 49,608 households in 2017, with a population of 126,190.
The county with the highest median resident income in the state was Newport County. Newport County’s median income was $35,475 per year after adjusting for inflation – $2,124 more than Washington County. It had 35,421 households in 2017 and a population of 83,204.
Providence County had the lowest annual resident income among counties in Rhode Island, with a median income of only $26,930 per year. That was $6,421 less than the median income in Washington County at the time. Providence County had 238,465 households in 2017 and a population of 633,704.
