Cost of college went up for all students at Johnson & Wales University-Providence

Tuition and fees rose 3 percent for 2018-19 at Johnson & Wales University-Providence, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Rhode Island students paid $32,441 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year – $933 more than the $31,508 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 99 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,598 students received grants or scholarships totaling $31.7 million and 1,336 students took out student loans totaling more than $12.3 million.

Including all undergraduates (7,360), 7,042 students used grants or scholarships totaling $120.3 million, and 5,685 students took out $42.5 million in federal student loans.
