Eastern Connecticut Named Favorite in 2022 Women’s Volleyball Preseason Coaches’ Poll

The Eastern Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team was picked to claim the 2022 Little East Conference (LEC) women’s volleyball championship, according to the 2022 LEC Preseason Coaches’ Poll.

The Warriors claimed the top spot in the poll after totaling 57 points and garnering three first-place votes. Eastern Connecticut played for the LEC tournament title for a conference-record 14th time in program history in 2021 as the No. 5 seed, falling to eventual champion UMass Boston, 3-2.

The Beacons were picked to finish third in 2022 after totaling 51 points and picking up a pair of first-place votes. They won their LEC-record 10th tournament championship in 2021, each of which has come since 2009.

2021 LEC regular season champion Plymouth State University was picked to finish second this season after tallying 53 points and three first-place votes. The rest of the projected six-team LEC tournament field includes Western Connecticut State University (45 points), Keene State College (45 points, one first-place vote) and UMass Dartmouth (29 points).

3. UMass Boston - 51 points (2 FPV)

4. Western Connecticut - 45 points

5. Keene State - 43 points (1 FPV)

6. UMass Dartmouth - 29 points

7. Southern Maine - 23 points

8. Rhode Island College - 14 points

9. Castleton - 9 points   NOTE: Coaches are not permitted to vote for their own program when determining the preseason ranking.
