Bryant heads to NJ to face NJIT for early Wednesday game

The Bryant University women's basketball team heads to the Garden State to face NJIT in a Wednesday morning America East matchup.

THE SERIESThis is the first matchup between the two teams since 2009. The Bulldogs defeated NJIT twice during the 2009 season.

SCOUTING THE HIGHLANDERSNJIT heads into Wednesday's matchup with an 8-9 record and a 3-2 conference record. Alejandra Zuniga leads the team in scoring, averaging 10.4 ppg. Trinity Williams is right with her, averaging 10.1 ppg.

 WHAT TO KNOW

  • Nicole Gallagher is averaging 12.8 ppg in AE play and hauling in 7.7 rpg. She also shoots 44% from the field, 42% from three, and 80% from the free-throw line. She also has recorded 13 steals.
  • Alana Perkins made four triples against UNH on Monday. She has made at least three triples in five games this year, and the Bulldogs are 4-1 in those contests.
  • The Black and Gold have recorded 9+ steals in eight games this season and have posted 5+ blocks in five matchups. The Black and Gold are 4-3 when having 9+ steals and 3-2 when recording 5+ blocks. 
  • Mariona Planes Fortuny has recorded 13 double-digit scoring efforts this season. She also is the first Bulldog since Sydney Holloway to have eight 20+ point games in a season. Holloway finished with 10.
